MIAMI BOOK FAIR Nov. 13 – 20, 2016

Presented and produced by Miami Dade College

Miami, Nov. 7, 2016 – Give Miami Day, the largest annual giving event in the Southeastern U.S., is an opportunity to make a philanthropic impact on the Greater Miami area by donating to local organizations and programs that make a difference, including Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Miami Book Fair (MBF). To celebrate the spirit of giving, the Miami Book Fair, the nation’s finest and largest literary gathering, will host a Give Miami Day block party starting at 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 17, at The Porch, located at the corner of N.E. Second Ave and N.E. Third St.

Join the block party, co-sponsored by the Miami Foundation, featuring lots of entertainment and activities, including bingo, a community feast, Lulu’s Nitrogen Ice Cream, Morgan’s Food Truck, the Biscayne Poet, #6WordsMiami improv with Villain Theater, a reading of noir novels, and much more! Events are free and open to the public.

“Hosting the Give Miami Day Community Block Party at The Porch is a perfect fit,” said Javier Alberto Soto, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation. “The book fair always does a great job of bringing people together to celebrate our community, and that’s what Give Miami Day is all about: igniting our love for Greater Miami by investing in its future. We hope all Miamians will come out and enjoy the biggest, most exciting giving event of the year!”

Don’t forget to give to Miami Book Fair! The Miami Foundation and partners will provide a bonus donation to all organizations receiving between $25 and $10,000 gifts on Give Miami Day, and Miami Book Fair will give more free books to kids through the year-round Read to Learn Books for Free program that distributes free books all over Miami-Dade County.
