Miami, Dec. 1, 2020 – Miami Dade College (MDC) and the social media management platform Hootsuite announced a partnership that will allow MDC students to gain industry-leading digital skills and become certified in the Hootsuite platform free of charge.
Through the partnership, Hootsuite’s Student Program will be incorporated in MDC’s curriculum across various disciplines. Faculty and students will have access to professional social media tools and resources that include Hootsuite Free Dashboard, which provides hands-on experience of Hootsuite’s basic features, including message scheduling and audience engagement; Free Online Courses that provides access to Hootsuite Academy’s on-demand video courseware training for Hootsuite Platform and Social Marketing; and free certification in various areas, including Hootsuite Platform and Social Marketing.
“We are pleased to support the workforce of the future through the intersection of formal education and certifications like the ones we offer through our Hootsuite Academy,” said Tom Keiser, CEO, Hootsuite. “We are of the opinion that one doesn’t need to compete with the other—job specific certifications can act as a partner to a formal education bringing practical and timely skills to very specific positions.”
Until now, the Hootsuite Certification was only available to students enrolled at MDC’s Business Innovation & Technology (BIT) Center. This partnership expands the platform to many more areas of study at the College.
“We are thrilled to take this partnership to a higher level, making Hootsuite’s Student Program a part of MDC’s curriculum. The ongoing growth and increased use of social media platforms have made digital skills and certifications a top priority for users and employers,” said Chechu Lasheras, BIT Center Director. “We are very happy that many more students will now benefit and get this important certification at no cost.”
The BIT Center will host a free webinar with Keiser, Hootsuite CEO, on Thursday, Dec. 17, 12 – 1 p.m. EST. The webinar is free and open to the public. To register, please visit https://tinyurl.com/y5nyuq2y.
