Knowledge to Grow. Support to Succeed.
Miami, Oct. 9, 2020 – Small business entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply for the next Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) at Miami Dade College (MDC) programs, set to begin January 20, 2021. In an ongoing effort to expand opportunities and strengthen the small business community, eligibility requirements have been updated to increase participation, particularly among minority, small business entrepreneurs impacted by the pandemic. The deadline to apply is Oct. 16, 2020.
“The 10KSB program at Miami Dade College is guided by the power of small business entrepreneurship and we are committed to helping support inclusive, economic development initiatives that will help our community grow,” said Pamela Fuertes, Executive Director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program.
The updated guidelines and criteria include:
- The applicant is a small business owner or small business co-owner
- The business revenues in 2019 are $100K
- The business has 2 full-time employees (including the business owner)
- The business has been in operation for 2 or more years
MDC’s 10SB program was launched in 2013, when Goldman Sachs and the College entered a five-year, $5 million partnership to deliver the 10KSB program in Miami. The first six years of program – featuring MDC alumni, area business professionals and advisors – graduated 526 small business owners who are continuing to grow. That represents $796 million in revenues and 9,734 full-time jobs in the community.
Designed especially for small business entrepreneurs, the 10KSB program helps small businesses grow and create jobs by providing them with access to a business management entrepreneurship program, financial capital and business support services. Through the program, small business entrepreneurs gain practical skills in financial management, leadership principles, negotiation, marketing and communications, entrepreneurship, and operations and processes that can immediately be put into action. In addition, they receive tools and professional support to develop a strategic and customized plan that will position their business for growth.
Participation in the program is underwritten by the Goldman Sachs Foundation.
“Through our 10,000 Small Businesses Program, Goldman Sachs is committed to helping small businesses grow,” said Jessica Taylor, National Director of Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses. “We believe in the power of small businesses. Our partnership with Miami Dade College and our investment in South Florida since 2013 speaks to the strength and diversity of this market. We are proud to help drive transformative change to the greater small business community.”
