Miami, Sept. 30, 2020 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will illuminate its Historic Landmark Freedom Tower red on Friday, Oct. 23, to kick-off national Red Ribbon Week®, Oct. 23- 31, in support of Informed Families. American Airlines Arena and Miami Tower will also be illuminated in support of the Red Ribbon Campaign®, which is now the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of young people each year.
“Miami Dade College is pleased to support Red Ribbon Week®,” said MDC Interim President Dr. Rolando Montoya. “In our ongoing effort to aid the community, we stand with Informed Families to support drug prevention, awareness and education for young people.”
This year’s Red Ribbon Week theme, Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free™, amplifies the campaign’s mission to encourage children, families and communities to live healthy, happy and drug-free lives. It also serves as a reminder that everyone is empowered with shaping their communities through positivity, bravery and strength.
