Miami, July 15, 2020 –Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus’ Student Government Association will host a Social Justice and Equity Webinar series events starting at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 20. The four-part series is free and open to the public.
This grassroots, student-led series was created in response to issues of racial inequity and social unrest facing communities amid a pandemic that has brought about a “new normal” for students and their families. The series will be purposeful in presenting a platform for student voices, as well as individual and shared perspectives. Each webinar will feature a guest speaker, who will formally introduce the topic by sharing foundational aspects and a broad viewpoint. Two MDC North Campus student co-facilitators will then lead an open dialogue with the audience of students, faculty, and community members.
“As students of Democracy’s College, it is our responsibility to take action and keep the conversation moving forward,” said Michael Cruz, North Campus Student Government Association president.
