Miami, July 10, 2020 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will collaborate with Chamber South to sponsor a Virtual Chat with Maria C. Alonso, President and CEO of United Way of Miami-Dade, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 16.
Alonso is responsible for the strategy, operations and finances of United Way of Miami-Dade. This includes securing grants and philanthropic giving of more than $40 million per year, managing a staff of nearly 200 professionals, and guiding a community-driven process to prioritize programs and services.
United Way is engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide. It is focused on creating community-based and community-led solutions that strengthen four cornerstones for a good quality of life: education, financial stability and health. United Way of Miami-Dade works to build a stronger Miami where all children have the opportunity to learn and thrive, families are financially secure, and people can live to the fullest for generations to come.
