News Correspondent Angie Sandoval to Deliver Keynote Address at MDC’s North Campus Hispanic Heritage Creative Writing Awards Oct. 23

MIAMI, Oct. 15, 2019 – Univision’s renowned News Correspondent Angie Sandoval will deliver the keynote address at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus Hispanic Heritage Creative Writing Awards, Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 11 a.m.

This award ceremony is the conclusion of North Campus’ Creative Writing Contest, which has been organized for the past six years as part of MDC’s Hispanic Heritage Month celebration. Student contestants are awarded first, second, and third place cash prizes provided by Pearson Education. This year’s event theme is “Hispanic America: A History of Shaping Our Nation.”

Angie Sandoval is an award-winning national news correspondent who has been covering world events for more than 30 years. Currently, she works for Aquí y Ahora, a famed news magazine television program that broadcasts nationally on the Univision network, as well as Noticiero Univision and Fusion Media.

Sandoval started her career as a local reporter for Univision’s Miami affiliate WLTV Channel 23 in 1985 when the South Florida metropolis was a hot spot for national and international news. Since then, Sandoval has reported on almost every political crisis and presidential election in Latin America and the United States. She has also covered major federal drug cases, the immigration crisis, and natural disasters.
