Miami, May 31, 2019- Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Eduardo J. Padrón Campus (EPC) and the Koubek Center in collaboration with the Association of Translators & Interpreters of Florida (ATIF) will host the workshop Interpreting and Translating Bitcoin, Blockchain and Cryptocurrency, Saturday, June 1, at 9 a.m.
Facilitated by Elda Ellis, founder of Translating Worlds by EYE, a provider of coaching for certified interpreters related to judicial proceedings protocol and ethics, the workshop is an introduction to terminology and concepts of the evolving blockchain technology explained within a judicial context to provide law and language professionals with basic tools and resources.
All topics to be covered are part of the legal system, as they increasingly appear in criminal and civil procedures, as well as throughout the globe in many languages, due to their decentralized nature. It will include definitions and basic concepts of Bitcoin and a general overview of the terminology, definitions and differences; blockchain and its uses, understanding the technology and its implementation in different industries; cryptocurrencies and the law, explaining the lingo in a legal context. Multilingual resources for interpretation and translation will be provided.

About Elda Ellis
As a certified court interpreter in the state of California, Elda Ellis is proficient in all three modes of interpretation required by the judicial council. With over a decade of experience, she has worked in the court system in criminal, civil and other law-related fields. Ellis is also a consultant, educator and translator for blockchain and fintech companies, and for individuals around the globe. Originally born in Latin America, her immersion and understanding of the Latin and American societies gives her the unique ability to accurately bridge the communication gap between both cultures.
