MDC Executive Vice President and Provost, Lenore Rodicio traveled to Israel with Governor Ron DeSantis as part of a delegation to secure a number of memorandums of understanding for the governor’s business development mission. The agreements are intended to benefit Florida students, businesses and residents in ways that range from securing high-wage jobs, to research and academic opportunities, and the development of environmental technology.
“It is an honor to participate in the Governor’s Trade Mission to strengthen our ties with the leading entrepreneurial ecosystem of Israel. As part the mission, MDC has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Haifa University and Tel Aviv University,” said Dr. Rodicio. “This will expand the opportunities to enhance mutual academic exchanges and maintain close relationships among three truly innovative institutions of higher education. Given common academic goals in the areas of business and information technology, the MOUs will foster faculty and student exchange programs, as well as collaborative research and academic seminars.”
The MOU with the University of Haifa has the goal of creating collaborations in the areas of science and technology programs. The two institutions will seek ways to engage in exchange of scholars, joint research projects, joint teaching and/or supervision of students, as well as study abroad programs, student mobility and prospective exchange of students.
The MOU that was signed with Tel Aviv University aims to expand MDC’s existing partnership with that institution in the areas of business and entrepreneurship, as well as creating a new collaboration with the Cybersecurity Center of the Americas. The institutions will develop faculty and student exchange programs, as well as collaborative research and academic seminars.
Governor-led missions are part of a global trade development and business recruitment strategy that involves leaders from business, government and economic development organizations throughout Florida. The missions provide a unique opportunity to promote Florida’s business advantages, assist exporters in meeting clients, and identify and attract foreign direct investment. Governor-led missions target markets where a significant opportunity exists to expand Florida’s economy.
