MDC’s Eduardo J. Padrón Campus and Koubek Center to Host Community Walk and Zumba Class June 5

Miami, May 30, 2019 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Eduardo J. Padrón Campus and MDC’s Koubek Center will host an evening of walking and Zumba on Wednesday, June 5, to promote fitness, fun and a sense of community. This event is presented in collaboration with Live Healthy Little Havana, the Urban Impact Lab, the Health Foundation of South Florida and MDC’s Earth Ethics Institute with the aim of bringing fitness, fun and community to the neighborhood.

According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), staying active is a great way to improve overall health and decrease the risk of chronic disease, including heart disease, cancer and diabetes. The CDC’s Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity, or an equivalent combination each week. For children and adolescents, the recommended amount is at least 60 minutes every day.

The activities are free and open to the public. Parking is available in the flat lot at the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus, 627 S.W. 27th Ave.
