Miami Dade College to Illuminate Freedom Tower Orange for National Gun Violence Awareness Day

Miami, May 25, 2018 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will illuminate its National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower orange at sunset on Saturday, June 2, in support of National Gun Violence Awareness Day and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, which will host a Wear Orange event to honor the victims and survivors of gun violence, and unite to end gun violence.

The Wear Orange event will take place from noon – 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, at Palm Court Event Space in the Design District, 140 N.E. 39th St. Special guests will include popular political commentator Ana Navarro, Moms Demand Action Founder Shannon Watts, Parkland parents Manuel and Patricia Oliver, and Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber. In addition, there will be performances by Guitars Over Guns and Elsten Torres, a two-time Grammy-winner performing with a children’s chorus.
