Phi Beta Lambda Chapter at the MDC Kendall Campus to Host Florida Legislative Forum Oct. 12

Miami, Oct. 10, 2016 – The Phi Beta Lambda chapter at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kendall Campus will host a legislative forum with six candidates vying for seats in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives. The forum will take place Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 6 p.m.

From climate change to college affordability to jobs, state representatives can make a difference on a wide range of issues. This forum with a Q & A session is an opportunity to learn more about what the candidates stand for and what they will fight for, and will be moderated by journalist Maria Laria.

Laria was the first Hispanic woman to host a talk show in the Spanish-language television market in the United States. Her career spans from Univision and Telemundo in the United States to Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition to being a journalist, Laria is also executive producer, model, film actress and concert pianist. She currently anchors the daily talk show Arrebatados on Channel 41 America TeVe.

The forum is sponsored by the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Florida Immigrant Coalition, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Labor Council for Latin American Advancement.
