The agreement includes the offering of AI clinics, delivered through a hybrid educational model, aimed at professionals and business leaders.
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 29, 2026 — The Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) and Miami Dade College (MDC) have signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen the capabilities of faculty, students and administrative staff in the use of artificial intelligence, while promoting reflection on the ethical, social and institutional responsibilities associated with this technology.
INTEC President Arturo Del Villar and MDC President Madeline Pumariega signed the agreement, which also promotes the exchange of ideas, specialized knowledge and best practices related to AI education, digital transformation and responsible innovation. The agreement was signed during eMerge Americas, one of the most important innovation and technology conferences in the Western Hemisphere, held at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
“This agreement reaffirms INTEC’s commitment to higher education that is connected to the major challenges of our time. Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we teach, learn and produce, and this initiative allows us to better prepare our community and the country’s professionals for this new context. At INTEC, we are committed to an education that not only drives innovation but also promotes ethical, responsible use with a real impact on the country’s development,” said Del Villar.
“Miami Dade College is proud to formalize this partnership with INTEC, reflecting our shared commitment to advancing innovation in higher education. As a global leader in artificial intelligence education, MDC is honored to share its expertise in supporting faculty in integrating AI into teaching and learning across disciplines, while also engaging the broader business community through hands-on training opportunities. This collaboration represents not only a significant step for our institutions, but also the first of many initiatives aimed at expanding access to cutting-edge technologies and preparing students and professionals to thrive in an AI-driven world,” said Pumariega.
The training program is part of the university’s initiative to create a Center for Artificial Intelligence (CIA-INTEC), through which the institution aims to become an epicenter of AI innovation in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, driving technological, economic and social development through world-class research, the training of exceptional talent and the creation of ethical, high-impact AI solutions.
The collaboration between INTEC and MDC includes two components: a train-the-trainer program benefiting 40 INTEC faculty and staff through an intensive 12-hour program over four weeks, enabling them to design, integrate and ethically leverage artificial intelligence in their academic programs.
The second component includes AI clinics aimed at professionals and business leaders. These are structured as a four-week hybrid learning model designed to promote a high level of proficiency in applied AI.
