Six Words. One story. All yours
Miami, Aug. 23, 2016 – The Miami Dade College’s (MDC) world-renowned Miami Book Fair (MBF) has partnered once again with South Florida’s NPR member station, WLRN 91.3 FM, for #6WordsMiami, a community project that collects and showcases stories that are six words in length.
WLRN and the MBF are looking for stories about the South Florida, whether it’s a memoir, fiction or other, everyone is invited to submit their six-word stories, especially those inspired by life in South Florida. Your six-world story could get you invited to read at the 2016 Miami Book Fair (Nov. 13-20). It may even be chosen for the basis of an improv comedy sketch at the Fair by Villain Theater.
Submissions are accepted in English, Spanish and Creole, but only via the methods indicated at www.wlrn.org/6wordsmiami and via Twitter and Facebook using #6wordsmiami. Stories selected will be read on the air on WLRN starting in October. There is no limit to how many stories one can submit.
The deadline to be part of a special publishing project and to be considered for special performance opportunities at the MBF is Oct. 15. However, submissions will be accepted and selections posted/aired on WLRN through the last day of the Fair.
