Miami, June 28, 2023 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Medical Campus will once again host the heart-pumping Randy Boaz Advanced Life Support (ALS) Competition, an annual event where teams of paramedics and emergency medical technicians are exposed to various emergency scenarios under the clock. The competition will take place on Friday, June 30, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at MDC Medical Campus featuring local, state, national and international teams.
The Randy Boaz ALS Competition reinforces best practices and techniques, which help enhance the teams’ daily service to the community. It also provides an opportunity for participating agencies to collaborate and share information about advanced treatment procedures.
Since 2001, MDC Medical Campus has organized and hosted the competition, which honors the memory of the late Randy Boaz, an MDC instructor and a well-respected leader in the Emergency Medical Services field, who was one of the first paramedics in the United States with a career that started in the 1960s. Revered in the paramedic community, Boaz taught many of the specialists who have been part of the competition, although he passed away several years before the event was launched.
The popular events attract paramedics from across the United States and abroad. This year, organizers expect 80-100 competitors that include members of Florida fire departments located in Hollywood, Margate, Miramar, Palm Beach State College, Tamarac, Orange, and Lee County, to name a few.
Teams interested in competing can register here by June 29.
