Miami, June 23, 2023 – NBCUniversal News Group has awarded 11 Miami Dade College (MDC) students from five different campuses the NBCU Academy Fellows Scholarship, supporting the college’s effort to educate future journalists and content creators. It’s the second consecutive year MDC students are selected to receive the scholarship.
The scholarship, which awards $5,000 to each recipient, allows students to advance digital equity through collaborative, hands-on learning experiences and training, and the chance to work one-on-one with media professionals. The program also provides internship opportunities at a major news organization and prepares participants to contribute to campus life through MDC’s award-winning student newspaper, The Reporter, student literary magazines and as on-air personalities on Emmy Award-winning MDC-TV.
