Miami, Dec. 6, 2022 – In an effort to address the teacher shortage and establish teaching pipelines, Miami Dade College (MDC) and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) will announce a collaborative partnership to create the Teacher Candidate Residency Program at MDC. The partnership will be formalized at a signing ceremony at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at MDC Padron Campus, home of the College’s acclaimed School of Education. MDC President Madeline Pumariega and M-DCPS Superintendent Dr. Jose L. Dotres will attend.
Working together, this partnership will design, implement and continuously improve the recruitment, development, and retention of high-quality teachers. The program will allow MDC School of Education students to be hired while completing their bachelor’s degree.
