Miami, March 22, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department at the Wolfson Campus continues its successful Jazz at Wolfson Presents series with guitarist Paul Bollenback, at noon, Wednesday, April 13. The concert will be available in-person and via livestream. All Jazz at Wolfson Presents concerts are free and open to the public.
Bollenback is known for his versatility, as well as his influential 20-year stint with jazz organist Joey DeFrancesco. He has performed on over 80 recordings as a sideman and has released eight albums as lead artist. His latest recording with his trio, Portraits in Space and Time (Mayimba Music), was released in 2014. He’s also a talented composer whose pieces have appeared on Joey DeFrancesco’s Reboppin’ and on the album Jazz Times Superband.
As a sideman, Bollenback has played with a wide range of jazz luminaries, including Stanley Turrentine, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Charlie Byrd, Arturo Sandoval and Herb Ellis, among others. He also performed with the group East Meets Jazz, with renowned tabla virtuoso Sandip Burman.
He served as artist-in-residence at the Litchfield Jazz Festival Summer Music School and was a featured artist on the bill of Duquesne University’s Summer Guitar & Bass Workshop. He currently teaches at Columbia University, Queens College and The New School in New York.
In addition, he has performed on numerous television programs, including Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show and Good Morning America.
