Miami, Oct. 4, 2021 – The Learning Resources Department at Miami Dade College (MDC) will host a series of events collegewide in appreciation of tutors at each campus during National Tutoring Week, Oct. 4-8.
Learning Resources provides students with knowledgeable tutors that can provide face-to-face instruction in various courses, such as math, writing, reading, business, natural science, health sciences, speech, test preparation, and more. The National Tutoring Association dedicated to the advancement of tutors launched National Tutoring Week over a decade ago. It is celebrated at colleges, universities, and private tutoring centers across the country.

Monday, Oct. 4
Thank You E-Card from Faculty and Staff

In celebration of National Tutoring Week, the Meek Center and North Campus will send tutors an e-card signed by faculty, staff, and administration to recognize their invaluable contributions to student learning.

Students are welcome to come and have some snacks with tutors while Writing Coach Patrick Henry reads aloud the tutor thank you leaves. Tutors will receive an Eat Me Guilt Free snack bag, and Learning Resources Director Zoila De Yurre and Associate Director Teri Martinez will raffle a $25 gift card amongst the tutors.

In honor of National Tutor Appreciation week, the Meek Center is honoring tutors by sending individualized e-cards that highlight specific strengths of each tutor. In addition, tutors will receive a goodie bag as a token of appreciation from the Center.

Students and faculty are invited to come by the library or computer courtyard and write a thank you “leaf” for your tutor. The leaf notes will be added to the tree trunks to build two interactive Thank You Tutor Trees.
