Miami, Jan. 29, 2021 – Miami Dade College (MDC) President Madeline Pumariega will participate in a panel titled Women’s Leadership: Smashing Glass Ceilings, hosted by The Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade. The virtual event will take place at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4, via Zoom.
This event is part of the nonprofit organization’s monthly Impact Collaborative series. The Women’s Fund convenes nonprofit and grassroots organizations leaders, advocates from the private sector, elected officials, law enforcement, service providers, young professionals and individuals interested in discussing women and girl’s issues and potential solutions.
The event on Feb. 4 will feature some of Miami’s top female leaders who are smashing glass ceilings in their respective fields. President Pumariega made history when she was named MDC’s first female president in 2020. In 2015, was appointed the first female and Hispanic chancellor of the Florida College System.
Other panelists will include keynote speaker Leigh-Ann Buchanan, President and Executive Director of Venture Café Miami; Monica Richardson, The Miami Herald’s first Black female editor; Lieutenant Karida J. Harris, second female Black Commanding Officer in the U.S. Coast Guard; and Valerie Lopez, Co-Founder and CEO of Shoot My Travel.
