Miami Dade College to Celebrate Chinese New Year at Four of its Campuses

Miami, February 10, 2015 – The Confucius Institute (CI) at Miami Dade College (MDC) invites the community to celebrate Chinese New Year during a series of special events at InterAmerican, Kendall, North, and Wolfson Campuses. The festivities – Feb. 13 – 25 – will usher in the Year of the Goat! Most of the events are free and open to the public, unless otherwise stated.

Below is a sampling of scheduled events

Kendall Campus
Friday, Feb. 13, 8:15 – 10:15 p.m. / McCarthy Theatre
Finding Samuel Lowe – From Harlem to China – Enjoy a screening of this award-winning documentary and stay for a discussion with its filmmaker Paula Madison

Saturday, Feb. 14, 2 – 5 p.m. / Room R402
International Forum on Chinese Migration to the Caribbean Basin (refreshment provided)

Sunday, Feb. 15, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. / Fred Shaw Plaza
Chinese New Year Festivities – Enjoy Chinese cultural shows, food, arts, and crafts.
Admission: $10 adults, $5 children under 12, free for children under five years of age

North Campus
Wednesday, Feb. 18, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. / Science Complex
Chinese New Year Pop Music Concert with a special performance by A Zheng and Tian Feng from China
Free admission

Saturday, Feb. 21, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. / Lehman Theater
Chinese New Year Celebration Gala Show with performance by Chinese pop stars A Zheng and Tian Feng and Chinese artists from South Florida

InterAmerican Campus

Chinese New Year Celebration – Participate in lectures on stress management through Tai Chi, Chinese health and wellness etc., and enjoy cultural performances, calligraphy, Panda Coin collection, and Chinese refreshments
