Miami Dade College Students Excel in Prestigious Chinese Composition Competition

Miami, October 16, 2013 – Three students taking courses at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Confucius Institute – Laiyen Suarez, Madison Ann Conroy and Elizabeth Diaz Steward – earned high honors at the Confucius Institute Cup, an international composition competition for Chinese language learners organized by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing, China.

The Confucius Institute Cup is one of the most prestigious writing competitions in the world for non-native learners of the Chinese language. Students from more than 400 different Confucius Institutes and similar programs around the globe participated by submitting their works to the organization’s headquarters. Laiyen Suarez (North Campus):  Second Prize (College Student and Adult Category)

Madison Ann Conroy (non-credit program): Second Prize (K-12 Student Category)

Diaz Stewart Elizabeth (Wolfson Campus): Encouragement Award (College Student and Adult Category)
