Miami Dade College Celebrates National Library Week

MIAMI, March 20, 2017 – The Learning Resources department at Miami Dade College (MDC), which recently received the renowned 2017 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award by the Association of College and Research Libraries, will once again celebrate National Library Week with various events from April 10-13, honoring the 2017 theme: “Libraries Transform.” Unless otherwise noted, all events are free and open to the public.

This year’s highlights will include LibCon, a literary cosplay celebration at the Kendall Campus; Edible Book Contests, and a month-long book drive to benefit Camillus House.

Monday, April 10

Chopped, An Edible Book Contest

National Library Week Kickoff Concert

Enjoy an exciting set by Bobby Ramirez and his jazz orchestra. The concert will be followed by a discussion on the band’s favorite books on the history of music and jazz.

A speed dating experience… with a book. Bring your favorite book, conceal the title and write an engaging ad on the cover to present to each of your “dates” in hopes of finding your literary match. Please sign up prior to the event Room 6011. Snacks and refreshments will be served.

Delicious Books, An Edible Book Contest
