Miami, Jan. 13, 2017 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican and Medical Campuses, along with ConnectFamilias, will host the Tenth Annual Caring for Kids Family Health and Safety Fair, an event aimed at making homes and communities healthier and safer for kids and adolescents.  The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb.  25. The event is free and open to the public.

The fair aims to show parents and children how to remain safe in dangerous situations and provides information on healthy living. Specialists will also be available to provide free health screenings (HIV, glucose, cholesterol, dental, and vision) for children of all ages and adults. Through informational workshops and booths hosted by community agencies, participants will receive information about available healthy choices and services. MDC’s School of Education will present parent workshops on teaching a child to read, selecting quality child care centers, and more. Free amusement rides and food will also be available.

The Caring for Kids Family Health and Safety Fair is a partnership between MDC and ConnectFamilias, and is funded by The Children’s Trust. ConnectFamilias’ mission is to establish an efficient, consistent and holistic network of coordination services that increase the safety and well-being of children and families.
